<\/a>Lolana<\/strong> is a\u00a0 London based painter and printmaker. Her work was exhibited in solo shows at The Houses of Parliament in 2013 and 2014 and recently at The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). She has had a number of exhibitions and has also produced commissions and studio work. Her paintings are in private collections worldwide.<\/p>\n

Lolana explores the theme of solitude and liminality. Using symbolic concepts and a variety of media such as oil, acrylic, collage and intaglio etching, she creates unique variable printmaking editions and distinct mixed media art. Lolana spent some time working in graphic design where she created successful art projects for award-winning organisations and publications before returning to the roots of her interest in fine art and printmaking.<\/p>\n

Her influences are many. In printmaking the greatest inspiration were and still are Rembrandt’s prints and etchings. The Surrealist fantasy and Expressionist subjectivity are influences too and, to a greater extent, contemporary Magic Realism. Her work has been praised for its powerful expressiveness and for conveying a profound emotional story. An accomplished musician, she has studied the piano from the age of six.<\/p>\n

“The central tenet of my art is a journey from reality to the edge of dreams and myths, seeking to reveal the sacred harmony of life in nature, human and animal form”.<\/p>\n
